My Ultimate Travel Bucket List

Hey guys, I have not posted anything in a while because miss CoronaV has been doing the most and doing me and everyone dirty. South Africa has gone under and this has put a mental pressure on me where I am feeling a bit uninspired to do anything, LITERALLY! You guys know that my posts get reviewed by an editor before it goes live but I thought for the duration of the South African lock down, I am going to freestyle all my posts so they are personal and more engaging.

I have been thinking about what my life will be like after this pandemic and I do not see anything happening for me in the travel space for quiet some time, maybe even stretching to a year and half- so I want to take this moment to share my bucket list.

“Bucket list: a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime”.

As a lover of all things adventure, here is my travel bucket list:

Take the stairs up Eiffel Tower: The first and only time I was in Paris it was during the cold European winter and as much fun as it was, I would like to go back and re-do the trip all over again but this time, in summer. Besides wanting to devour all the croissants I will find, I would like to attempt walking up the tower instead of taking the elevator. The Eiffel tower current has 1665 but with only 674 stairs open to the public.

Bungy jump: Some time back I attempted this and it was a complete fail. A friend of mine from Nigeria was visiting on an exchange programme and asked if we could go. This was during the time I was lived in Johannesburg. To say I was scared is an understatement. Everything was fine until we got to the top and honey, I thought I was looking down to my grave. This time however, I would like to visit the Bloukrans bridge. Bloukrans Bridge Bungy is one of the world’s highest commercial bridge bungy at 216metres (709 ft) above the Bloukrans River

Buns out in Brasil: I have this weird habit of associating places with movies I have watched and have expectations of it and with Brasil, I would like to visit just so I can walk around topless wearing a thong bikini because “who cares”.

Sandy Bay Beach: I am no stranger to being in my nude but when it comes to public nudity, that is something I am yet to dare myself to do. This next summer, I will be visiting Sandy Bay Beach in all my God given chocolate body to sunbathe in the sun, NUDE! As much as this thought is scary and makes me nervous, it is something I want to one day tell a story about.

French Polynesia: Talk about islands that steal your heart! This is actually my dream destination. The French Polynesian Islands are where it is at. I want to one day spend a whole month on the Maupiti Island doing nothing but eating, sunbathing and being loved up. No further explanations or negotiation. This might probably be my honeymoon getaway.

Paragliding: quiet often I see a lot of people flying off Lion’s Head and I get FOMO. Besides having to save a little bit of money (approximately R2000) for this experience, I have no other excuses not to do it.

Italy: All thanks to Coronavirus, I will not be taking a trip to Italy to Lake Garda with my friends for a camping trip in the summer. The reason why I jumped to the idea of a camping trip is because I want to experience a different type of Italy that I have not been shown on social media. I think Italy has become one-tone when it comes to travelers on the gram. Everyone wants to ride gondolas and eat ice cream and go to Milan. I just want to wake up and take in the fresh morning breeze of Lake Garda with a fresh cup of coffee in hand.

Finland: I might need to rob a bank or two for this experience. Finland is known for having one of the most beautiful and breathtaking glass igloo hotel experience in the Scandinavian region of Europe. The Igloo Village of Hotel Kakslauttanen offers glass igloos to watch the northern lights for just R11 000 a night.

Tattoos in New Zealand: Collecting tattoos from different artists and countries is becoming a hobby for me and ever since I could remember, I always imagined myself taking a trip to countries such as New Zealand to get a tattoo there. It does not matter what it is, but the most important thing would be the fact that it was done in NZ.

Hot Air balloon: Call me a romantic because this is something, I would like to treat myself to. A glass of MCC, a beautiful sunrise and I am breathless.

What are your thoughts on my travel bucket list. I hope you can share yours.

When you can travel the world, you are lucky. But when you travel around your country and enjoy it, it is a right and a privilege because only a few see beauty in the places they call home.

Let’s hope that by the time your birthday comes, we will be allowed to travel around the country.
      When is your birthday?
